Duffy to go on loan

EVERTON boss, David Moyes, has said he may let teenage central defender, Shane Duffy, go out on loan.

The Londonderry lad has made a big impact at Goodison Park, and has played in both the Premier League and Europa League.

Moyes has a record of letting young stars go out on loan to help them gain experience of playing first team football.

Last season, Killybegs footballer, Seamus Coleman went to Blackpool, where he enjoyed a number of Man of the Match performances to help them gain promotion.

Young striker, James Vaughan, is currently making an impact on loan to Crystal Palace.

Moyes is now understood to be ready to let Duffy and mildfielder Jose Baxter go on loan.

Duffy is close to full fitness since a freak life-threatening injury in May, when the 18-year-old needed emergency surgery after lacerating his liver in a collision while on Republic of Ireland international duty.

He recently earned a place on the bench in the draw against Spurs, but wasn't called upon to help a strong defence whose mainstay, club captain Phil Neville subdued the in-form Gareth Bale, who has won worldwide acclaim after terrorising Maicon in this week's match against Inter Milan.

Moyes told the Liverpool Echo: "I'd like to put Shane out on loan. We've been keeping an eye on him at first (since his injury) and keeping him indoors. He's very good in the air though, and could have come on against (Peter) Crouch (at White Hart Lane). If we find the right club he could go on loan."
