Jamie puts in stellar
performance for U18s

COOKSTOWN UTD YOUTH 0

MONEYSLANE U18s 3

Slane followed up their midweek draw against Bessbrook with a comprehensive victory against Cookstown at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena.

Mark Ervine’s troops were well fired up and started the game at a frantic pace. Jason Corr was causing all sorts of problems for the home side down the right hand side while the industrious Jamie Dickson pulled the strings with a great range of passes.

It was no surprise when Slane opened the scoring after 15 minutes. A great ball from Dickson sent Ervine Boyd clear down the left, his pinpoint cross was slammed home by Corr at the far post. That lead was doubled on 43 minutes when Ethan Scott rattled home a drive from the edge of the area.

Steven Adair, who led the line superbly all morning, should have made it 3-0 when he was clean through, while Neil Kirk then missed from all of six inches - a goal for him would have been reward for an excellent performance at the heart of the defence alongside Ryan Shilliday.

The third goal did arrive on 70 minutes when Ervine Boyd’s free kick rattled the woodwork before landing on a plate for Dickson to grab a well deserved goal. Boyd was replaced by Jason Crawford and it was he who went closest on a couple of occasions to increasing the lead before fellow substitute Kurtis Bain smashed another drive against the bar.

Best on the day for Slane was Jamie Dickson whose workrate was second to none.
