Madden keeping his options open

DERRY City’s Simon Madden admits just like this time last season, he hasn’t decided where he will be playing his football next year.

The talented right-back, who has arguably been City’s player of the year, stated he’s keeping his options open.

However he did confirm that he has held talks with both boss Declan Devine and chairman Philip O’Doherty in regards to a new deal.

“I sat down with Decky and the chairman a few weeks ago, we had a chat about where they were looking to take the club and what the future was for the club,” he admitted.

“But as I did last year I probably won’t be making a decision on my future for next year quite yet.

“Obviously you want to keep your options open, but I’ll talk with Decky again and see what my options are and see what turns up.”

Unfortunately for City supporters on current form the defender’s options are likely to be plenty with the likes of Sligo Rovers, Shamrock Rovers and St Patrick’s Athletic all rumoured to be interested in the Dubliner.
