Moneyslane hit Tigers for six with an impressive display

Slane welcomed back Mark Ervine after injury and also Josh Buchanan from the previous weeks squad.

On a beautiful spring day at Jubilee Park it was an entertaining opening with both teams applying pressure.

The first big chance arrived for the visitors on 15 minutes when a flick on sent a striker clear but Stephen White reacted brilliantly to palm the ball away.

Moments later Slane took the lead when Mark Anderson was played in down the left and his shot across the keeper was parried for Brian Quilty to stab home from 8 yards.

The home team extended their lead when Mark Anderson curled home a superb free kick over the wall and into the top corner from 25 yards.

Back came Dungannon who then dominated the next 15 minutes, particularly with their wide players first equalising through an excellent finish from a striker who blasted home from 14 yards and then on 30 minutes an equaliser when some good passing broke through the home defence and the ball was cut back and well finished by the away striker.

It was game on, but then Slane were awarded a penalty when Mark Anderson nicked the ball away from a defender as he was about to clear and was brought down. Gregg Harrison stepped up to score.

Then an excellent piece of individual play swung the game in the home teams favour. A ball played up to Brian Quilty on the half way line saw Gregg Harrison telling him to dummy it and the Slane striker ran from the half way line, leaving the chasing defenders behind before slotting past the big away keeper.

Just on half time Stephen White produced an excellent one handed save to keep the two goal cushion at half time.

Dungannon Tigers came out to have a go and Stephen White had to be on his toes on two occasions. Ally Quinn made two good tackles and Darrgh Peden a good block as the home defence dug in.

The game was competitive with both teams committed. Mark Ervine came on for Jonny Gibson and Johnny Kernaghan for Mark Anderson and both players made a positive impact.

Then a superb move by Slane saw them extend their lead when Brian Quilty played an intelligent ball behind the back for the onrushing John Whitten to lob the keeper and Gregg Harrison was on hand to complete his hat-trick. With the game effectively over the home team enjoyed a final 15 minutes where they controlled the game.

Josh Buchanan came on for Brian Quilty and it was no surprise when they scored again with Johnny Kernaghan breaking down the left wing and crossing for Mark Ervine to control, cut back across a defender and score into the bottom corner.
