Larne FC boss Gary Haveron looking to recreate European night that 'will stay with me forever'
Larne manager Gary Haveron wants to replicate the atmosphere from a European night that “will stay with me forever” as the Inver Reds aim to create club history by sealing Champions League progression for the first time against Tre Fiori on Tuesday evening.
The reigning Premiership champions became the maiden Irish League team to reach the Conference League’s League Phase when they sealed a spot in 2024 by beating Lincoln Red Imps in a play-off.
Andy Ryan scored a hat-trick as Larne won 3-1 on the night – and 4-3 on aggregate – against the Gibraltar outfit and set up unforgettable trips across the continent.
Haveron was a key part of Tiernan Lynch’s backroom staff throughout their historic European run and was the man in charge when Larne picked up perhaps their most famous win against Belgian top flight outfit Gent at Windsor Park.

Larne carry a 1-0 advantage into Tuesday’s Champions League first qualifying round second-leg after Matty Lusty’s strike in San Marino.
Victory would help boost Larne’s chances of repeating their magical Conference League feat this summer – and set up a showdown with former European Cup winners Red Star Belgrade in the next round.
Having experienced previous European highs, Haveron is looking to create more memories in front of home support.
"I don't know why we can't fill Inver Park, we take every seat we possibly can, we get people in the stands to support the boys and get them over the line,” he told the club’s media channel. “The best night I remember is the Red Imps game, that one will stay with me forever.
"The place was bunged and the atmosphere was electric, that definitely helped get us over the line and get us that result.
"When we're out in full force we're a force to be reckoned with and we want to be progressing to the next round of the Champions League.
"The tie is very much still in the balance, we know we have to turn up and be at our best at Inver Park to get the result over the line.
"I think we just scratched the surface (in San Marino). It was our first competitive fixture, all the pre-season friendlies are that, (the Champions League) is all about the night and those minutes will do them the world of good.”
