The Seahawks welcomed the reigning NI Intermediate League champions to Mullaghacall knowing a point would have been good enough to see them progress in the competition.

Gary Taylor’s side though ran out 4-1 winners in the end.

The visitors made a decent start but they fell behind after the home side were awarded a penalty.

United were claiming it was a harsh decision, but Doherty converted.

This hit the youthful Ballymoney side and they conceded two more before the break through Johnny Stewart and Nigel Turner.

A penalty miss added to the disappointment for the Toon but this was lifted as Ryan Stewart scored to reduce the half time deficit.

But it was shortlived as Stewart grabbed his third goal in as many games to seal the victory.
