Sixteen goal stalemate

Lurgan Town MU U14’s began their league campaign with a 8-8 draw with Lisbellaw.

The game was entertaining from start to finish with Lisbellaw taking an early lead against the run of play. Then up stepped Lurgan’s new signing Adam Loughran with two goals in five minutes and he completed a hat-trick on 17 minutes.

Jason Benson and Adam Loughran were destroying Lisbellaw’s defence and it was Jason next on the scoresheet with the goal of the game, a curling shot into the top corner from 20 yards. Lurgan’s Jack Malcomson was the most consistent performer in pre-season and he continued that form when he scored with a left foot shot.

The goals kept flowing with Lisbellaw getting two goals due to poor defending and then James Willis extended Lurgan’s lead by following up from a keeper error.

In the second half Lurgan just didn’t get started and some poor defending allowed

Lisbellaw get back into the game with two quick goals to bring the score to 6-5. Then Jason Benson got in on the act but Lisbellaw bagged another two to level matters.

Lurgan were still creating chances and Morgan Quinn restored Lurgan’s lead with a well taken goal. Then with almost the last kick of the ball Lisbellaw equalised with a long range effort.

It was a disappointing end to a game Lurgan should really have been out of sight due to their total dominance in the first half.
