Well deserved victory

A fantastic team performance from Lurgan Town’s U12 Mid Ulster squad saw them come away with a well deserved win against Craigavon City.

The first goal finally arrived from Adam Doris with a strike from distance. The second came from a quick corner, when Matthew Wells showed great bravery to head home a cross from James McCoy. Lurgan continued to dominate thanks to the continued pressing of Alex Wheelan and Peter Millen in midfield and the strong defensive work of Zack McAtamney and Riley Grimason. Nicholas Hamilton added a further two goals before the break, one a sharp turn and finish from the edge of the box and the second showing great composure to take the ball round the keeper before slotting home.

Craigavon City came back strongly in the second half and they were rewarded with two goals from good strikes. However, Lurgan Town regained their composure and Jake Givans was unlucky when his shot was blocked with a last ditch challenge. Adam Bonis also went close with a well struck free kick. Some resolute defending by Travis Barr, Matthew Clarke and man of the match James McCoy, together with the assured goalkeeping of Jack Magennis, ensured there were no further goals. The club thank Richard Heasley from match sponsors Sea Tiger Inspections for their support.
