Hueg test ahead for St. Michael’s

ST. MICHAEL’S, Lurgan will face familiar opponents this Saturday when they come up against St. Attracta’s Tubbercurry in the All-Ireland Schools semi-final.

The Sligo school came out on top in 2010 at the same stage of the All-Ireland competition by an amazing scoreline of 6-11 to 4-16 after extra-time.

An Aaron Findon goal at the end of normal time put the Lurgan school in front but a last minute free sent the game to extra time and the rest is history.

This year is the Sligo teams third Connacht title in four years and they will certainly present a huge challenge on this evidence.

St Michael’s is a small school and their success is testament to the work that is done in the school by all coaches along with the feeder schools and local clubs. It is a tremendous opportunity for this panel of players to create their little piece of history and show their ability on an All-Ireland stage.

St Michael’s enjoyed great vocal support in the Athletic Grounds on March 19th and look forward to something similar at the Fermanagh venue on Saturday.
