Whitehead Bowling Club crowned NIBA champions

Whitehead were officially crowned NIBA Division One champions following their home win (92-73) over Dundonald.

The East Antrim club’s sixth title success was confirmed when nearest challengers Bangor were demolished at Lisnagarvey.

With only one game remaining, Whitehead are 11 points clear at the top.

It’s the first time the Castleview Road men have won the title since 2010, having been runners-up in 2011, 2013 and 2014.

Elsewhere, Cookstown produced a thrilling finale in the Junior Cup final against Whitehead at Larne to secure the trophy for only the second time following a nailbiting one-shot win.
