Gavin enlisted the help of Armagh Rose Emma Gribben who has helped him put his skills to the test over recent weeks.

Nearly 200 men aged between 21 and 30 applied to become Escorts and Gavin was one of the final 32 selected.

Emma has put him through his paces ahead of the festival and given him some much needed advice on the difference between hair clips and safety pins.

Emma said: “Gavin is a real gentleman so I know he will do well this weekend. He has a great personality and is good fun, so his rose will be kept on her toes! Everybody at the Armagh Rose centre wishes Gavin the very best of luck for the weekend ahead”

On Monday night August 19, one of the 32 escorts will be announced as the Newbridge Silverware Escort of the Year for 2013 and he will walk away with a wonderful prize valued at €5,000.

Gavin is counting down the days to Tralee and is very excited to be part of the festival, which is one of the main events in The Gathering Ireland 2013 calendar; “I am really looking forward to the Rose of Tralee International Festival, it is a real honour to be chosen as an escort and I am ready for the challenge! It will be a very busy weekend but I am looking forward to meeting new people and making new friends. Emma has been giving me some advice to keep me right so I feel well prepared.”

Gavin also thanked his sponsors; IBS Epos, Bistro 47 Restaurant and J.R McMahon Menswear, Lurgan.
