McHugh’s date for Benjamin Francis Leftwich

ONE of the UK music scene’s most exciting new prospects has announced a Belfast date to coincide with the release of his debut album.

At just 21 years of age, Benjamin Francis Leftwich’s song-writing has a complex quizzical innocence while the songs themselves inspired by a childhood listening to Rolling Stones, Nina Simone and Bob Dylan, echo the enchanting wordplay of Feist and the delicate elegance of Elliott Smith.

Work on Ben’s debut album ‘Last Smoke Before The Snowstorm’ started when he was just a teenager and taught himself to play the guitar.

It’s an understated 10-track masterpiece that will be released on July 4 and showcases the fragile elegance of Ben’s voice, combined with simple, inviting guitar lines, delicate melodies and poetic lyrics with graceful charm.

Ben will play an intimate show at McHugh’s in Belfast on July 21.

Tickets are £10.25 (subject to booking fee) and are available from all usual Ticketmaster outlets and online.
