Hallowe’en fireworks at Ballycastle

MOYLE Council will again be putting on a fireworks display this Hallowe’en in Ballycastle.

A Council report stated: ‘The Council’s Halloween fireworks display will be held on Halloween night, Wednesday 31st October 2012 at 8.00pm at Ballycastle seafront. A programme of activities is being organised in the lead up to Halloween and immediately prior to the fireworks display at 8.00pm.

‘The Arts Programme is joining forces with MDC’s Re-Cycling programme to offer Halloween workshops in Bushmills, Cushendall and Ballycastle.

‘These workshops will offer the opportunity to make Halloween decorations from re-cycled materials. Additional workshops will include lantern-making and torch decorating using re-cycled materials. Also workshops in stilt-walking, drumming and preparing large figures for the Halloween Parade.

‘The Halloween Parade in Ballycastle will depart Altananam Park at 6.30pm on Wednesday 31 October and make its way through the town to the seafront for fireworks at 8pm.

‘Professional tutors who will lead Halloween events include: Michelle Crawford; Streetwise; Premiere Circus;Gathering Drum; Smudges and Ask for Art.

‘Additional linked activities this year include: Antrim Glens Tourism’s new Ghosts in the Glens Halloween storytelling festival which is part-funded by MDC Community Festivals Fund; and Greenlight Gateway’s Halloween themed venue, with which MDC Arts and Re-Cycling programmes are linking to offer Halloween activities,’ said the Council report.
