Lisburn band lined up for SO:NI showcase

LOCAL promoters SO:NI host their first show at the city’s Empire Music Hall of 2012 on Thursday February 9 when Lisburn band Everyday Superheroes take to the stage.

Taste of 2012 will feature four bands with a big year ahead, and reflecting the wealth of such bands on the scene will be an entirely female-fronted bill – all the bands having talented female vocalists in their ranks.

Headliners Everyday Superheroes are a Lisburn 4-piece, formed in 2010, who have quickly established their own unique signature sound – dynamic, melodic and fresh, with Frances Mitchell’s distinctive vocals shining through. This show serves as the Single Launch for their new Release “The Old You” – a strong tune, and the follow up to the anthemic “Listen to Me”. This will be the band’s first Empire headliner – the result of much hard work, and is their biggest show to date.

Special guests on the night are Shake! – led by the charismatic Annika Graham, an engaging performer with a powerful rock voice. Shake! Is a full-on, energised melodic rock outfit, with songs that belong on the radio. A gutsy, show stopping version of Queen’s “Somebody to Love” is always a set highlight, but their own tunes will lodge themselves in your brain for days afterwards!

Also on the bill is Superfiction – a new Belfast quintet who last year launched themselves at this very venue, and who also deal in high quality songwriting, delivered with gusto and style by Katrina O’Reilly, formerly the star of BBC 2 documentary “Wannabes”.

Kicking off the night is The Red Velvetines, a brand new proposition from north Antrim, who’s blues-edged hard rock, belted out by vocalist Claire Martin, has gone down a storm at recent SO:NI shows - hence this, their Empire debut. The RVs are another fine live act to complete a high quality bill.

Doors open 8.30pm, and admission is only £5 – with many drinks offers being enjoyed on the night. For info on all SO:NI shows and gigging possibilities, join them on Facebook by searching Soni Live, or check www.myspace.com/onesonimusic for listings.

SO:NI is also hard at work helping to put together Sunflowerfest 2012 (the 2011 festival having been nominated for a Northern Ireland Music Award), and Early Bird tickets for the festival are available at all SO:NI shows - check www.sunflowerfest.co.uk for details.
