Cameron's revelation 'unsurprising' - Cubitt

NORTH Antrim Independent Westminster candidate Lyle Cubitt says the recent revelation by David Cameron that he will reduce Northern Ireland expenditure "should not surprise the electorate in NI".

Mr Cubitt said: “The simple and effective way for him to reduce the ‘State’ in Northern Ireland is to accept my proposals and remove Stormont and replace it with ‘six’ local MPs as Junior Ministers and immediately reduce Government spending by a minimum of 30m per annum.

“I trust the Conservative Candidate in North Antrim will now acknowledge the strength of my argument and endorse me for Westminster.

“What can be expected from The DUP and TUV in the light of these claims by Cameron?,” Mr Cubitt continued.

“The present leaders of both parties forgot to tell the electorate in 2007 the DUP were going into Government with Sinn Fein or perhaps they didn’t even know and it came upon them by inspiration overnight.

“Does anyone really believe Peter Robinson and Jim Allister didn’t have a strong belief a deal was going to be done and if so why did they not reveal same; surely they would have at least put down a marker to the electorate and advised that those who were claiming this would happen had probable cause for so doing,” said Mr Cubitt.

“Why, why. why was this not done? Are the Electorate not entitled to an explanation?,” he said.
