Planning advice

Workshop

The Holywell Trust on Bishop Street is the venue on Wednesday, July 2, for a free planning advice workshop for groups or those who cannot afford private consultants. The advice event runs from 1pm to 4pm.

Independent, impartial advice and help will be offered by staff from Community Places on issues affecting people in neighbourhoods, townlands and villages. They are also available by telephone on the day at 02890 239444.

Claudine Christy from Community Places, said: “This is one in a series of free drop-in planning advice days we are providing across the region. Our professional planners will provide information and guidance on issues ranging from how to make a planning application for a new house, extension or conversion through to renewable energy technologies such as solar panels and wind turbines”.

Community Places planners will also provide advice on how to object to a planning proposal in your area, how planning deals with development that is built without planning permission and information on the changes in the planning system when planning moves to the new councils.

Macmillan Cancer Support would like to thank everyone who supported recently the Annual Flag Day in Londonderry on Saturday, June 14. The Flag Day was a tremendous success and Macmillan Cancer Support raised £1901.18. Macmillan would like to thank all the helpers on the day and all those people who give so generously. All funds raised will support people living with cancer in the North West.

Newbuildings

Fun Day

Newbuildings Community & Environmental Association will host a Community Fun Day and Fancy Dress Parade on Saturday, June 28.

The fancy dress parade will leave Community Centre Cat Park at 12.45pm. The Fun Day is from 2pm to 5pm at Newbuildings Community Centre. Activities include an air rifle range, archery, birds of prey display with pony and cart rides.

Full Swing Entertainment activities include Wipeout Sweeper, bouncy castles, HWT slide, demonstrations, kids carousel as well as face painting a balloon modelling. Cost: Children £2 and entry fee includes unlimited use of Full Swing activities.

Food/refreshment stands include burgers and hot dogs and a tuck shop and a Dippity Do Da chocolate fountain and ice cream.

Flag day

Limavady collection

The Committee of SSAFA Londonderry City and County Division wish to thank all those who so generously contributed to their Flag Day at Limavady. The total raised was £504.46.

Killyclooney

Barbecue

The members of Killyclooney Pipe Band will host a barbecue and dance in Killyclooney Orange Hall on Friday, July 4, at 8pm.

The event is open to all and music on the night will be in the form of a disco.

Proceeds from the night will be in aid of the band and a nominated charity.
