Currently preparing to skydive at the Wild Geese Centre, Garvagh, on September 14 are Lee Mark, Claire Todd, Stephen Tuff, Matthew Morrow, Martin Knox, Nikki Wakefield, Pete Armstrong, Wayne Gilchrist and Edward Dickson from Broughshane; Hannah Rowe from Ballykeel, Willie Quinn from Ahoghill and Louise Dunseath, Cullybackey.

The group are being supported in their brave efforts by local hero and former soldier Philip Gillespie and also Ballymena Councillor Paul Frew MLA who said: “I would like everyone to be aware of this brave and selfless group of people and to dig deep to support them.

Philip Gillespie added: “I know only to well the support that is needed when soldiers come home from conflict and theatres of war and it is great to see that exemplified in Ballymena once again.

“It would be excellent to see Ballymena getting behind Lee and his friends in the same spirit as they supported the Royal Irish.”

Group leader Lee Mark admitted that while the skydive was daunting, meeting Philip last week had been a real inspiration.

He said that while the minimum they needed to raise was £2.000 they were aiming to amount £8,000 for such a worthy cause.

Lee said anyone who would like to make a donation can call or text him on 07824905385 after 6pm or call into Paul Frew’s constituency office on Church Street, Ballymena.
