Life for You Radio - Lyrics for life

Music plays a huge roll in many of our lives with songs constantly filling many shops, cafes, restaurants and around Christmas time the music even encroaches out onto the streets.

Often when songs are listened to carefully they can be found to fit our daily situation and it’s almost as if the words are speaking directly to us.

“Nobody to rescue me Nobody would dare I was going down for the last time But by His Mercy I’ve been spared”

Bob Dylan wrote these words to apply to his situation and gave both the song and the album a simple one-word title: “Saved”.

Ballymoney Baptist Church will be broadcasting on the radio from Friday 27th-Sunday 29th May weekend with a wide range of programmes and plenty of music to suit all tastes.

If you specifically want to hear more about Bob Dylan and his perhaps odd choice of lyrics you could tune in to 105.3 fm at 10pm on Saturday 28th and listen to the programme “Blowing in the Wind” with Rachel Millican which will be exploring this Bob Dylan album and what he had to say about God.

Bob Dylan isn’t everyone’s favourite and so over the weekend we’ll have a range of music starting on Friday morning with the inspirational modern Christian hymn writers Keith and Kristyn Getty who aim to bridge the gap between traditional and contemporary music.

They have released two CDs worldwide and will be explaining how they came to write Christian hymns and why this is so important to them.

The music will continue to our last day on air which will begin with “Hymns and their stories” being explored by Victor and Iris. So often we can find ourselves listening to song lyrics and identifying with them but we never really understand the meanings fully until we catch a glimpse of the context in which they were written.

This show provides an insight into the forming of hymns and the circumstances which led to their existence. So why not tune in on Sunday morning and hear the lessons behind the lyrics?

Following this programme will be the opportunity to join us in singing some of these fantastic hymns at the church services which are at 11am and 6pm also at these services will be the opportunity to hear Pastor Colin Adams preach. So if you can’t make it out, tune in or listen online to both the morning and evening services.

We will not only be broadcasting from the studio but many of the broadcasters will be roaming Ballymoney Main Street and hosting activities in the town. On Saturday 28th May at Castlecroft there will be an opportunity to see “The Amazing Journey”. This interactive production provides an entertaining and accessible insight into Biblical stories and truths.

Ballymoney will witness Biblical characters from Goliath to Noah come to life and tell their stories. It’s happening right on your doorstep, so why not come and see? The activities continue into the evening and in holding to the musical theme there will be a time of praise at the church featuring a range of singers and musicians from all walks of life telling their story starting at 7pm. Or if you’d like you are more than welcome to join us at the church at 60 Ballymena Road, Ballymoney to take part in the Praise service.

So take this opportunity to grasp the significance of the lyrics you hear, listen carefully and perhaps you may even find the truth in them and then you can sing with Bob Dylan,

“By His grace I have been touched By His word I have been healed By His hand I have been delivered By His spirit I have been sealed.”

Tune in to Life for You Radio on 105.3fm starting Friday 27th May- Sunday 29th May 2011 on 105.3fm or listen online at ballymoneybaptistchurch.org.
