Burns survivor and his dog arrive in Northern Ireland on UK-coastline fundraising cycle for medics who saved his life
A man who was in a coma after suffering 40% burns in an explosion at work is now cycling the coastline of the UK – and has reached the Causeway Coast!
Leigh Taylor and his dog Taco are riding the UK coastline on their e-trike to raise money for the Great North Air Ambulance and the RVI Newcastle – “both responsible for saving my life”, said Leigh.

“After surviving a life-altering accident in 2024 that left me with 40% burns and a long road of recovery, I made a promise to myself - If I got a second chance, I’d do something that mattered. This journey is that promise brought to life.
"This journey has been powered by the kindness of strangers along every inch of the coast we travelled so far and we have been kindly hosted at the end of each day’s riding by incredible people.

"We’ve had camping spots, spare rooms, caravans, hotels, B&Bs and even a scout hut so far.”
Plotting their journey on his Facebook page called Paws and Pedal, Leigh has set himself a fundraising target of £11,000.
Since arriving in Belfast, Leigh has travelled through Carrickfergus, Larne, Carnlough, Ballycastle and Ballintoy and is still cycling!
