Kites Not Frights event for children to be held on Garvaghy Road, Portadown at Halloween
A Kites Not Frights event will be held on the Garvaghy Road this Halloween.
Organised by BDS Craigavon, this is part of an all island event aimed at bringing children together.
The event is taking place at the Drumcree Centre just off the Garvaghy Road in Portadown at 11am on Saturday October 31.
A spokesperson said: “Following recent (and past) events in the area we feel this is the ideal place bringing fun to a community of children who have witnessed uncertainty and upheaval lately, whilst raising vital funds and awareness for the charity Children Not Numbers (Kids in Palestine).
"The children involved will be filmed flying the kites they've designed themselves and asked to write messages of love, hope and thoughts on blank kites which will then be sent to Palestine and the West Bank for the children to read,” she said, adding flying kites is banned in Palestine and recorded as an act of terror.
