The generous effort aims to gift a festive shoebox to older people, vulnerable, isolated and those experiencing homelessness within the Larne area this year.

The initiative is being led by members of the Larne Area Community Support group and a number of businesses have agreed to act as drop off points for the donations.

The east Antrim drive has been inspired by a similar campaign organised as part of the East Belfast Christmas Shoebox Appeal.

If you would like to support the Larne area appeal this Christmas find an old, clean shoebox or small box.

Fill the shoebox with a minimum of five items. The organisers recommend three food items, one small gift and a Christmas card from your household address to an anonymous person.

Wrap or decorate your box of goodies and then drop your finished shoebox gift off to one of the drop off points.

The drop off points are Spar Viking Lodge, The Fit Factory and AB Cabs. The last donations will be accepted on December 20.

Your gifted shoebox will then be collected and distributed after this point to local groups and organisations in the Larne area who support individuals who may be isolated, alone, vulnerable, experiencing homelessness or older people within the community.

The Larne Area Community Support group wish to thank everyone who has supported the campaign to date and the businesses who are acting as drop off points.
