Temporary Post Office opens at Rushmere Shopping Centre in Craigavon amid plans to open a new main office
The Post Office created a temporary service at Rushmere Shopping Centre amid plans to open a new main office at the Craigavon outlet.
The new “Vital Post Office” service opened on the First floor of Rushmere Shopping Centre, Craigavon, and, according to the Post Office, is operated by an experienced postmaster.

"This is a temporary solution whilst we work towards a permanent solution on the ground floor of the Rushmere Shopping Centre,” said a spokesperson for the Post Office.
"There is a lift that takes customers to the 1st floor of the shopping centre and signage has been added in the lift and within the shopping centre to help customers to find Rushmere Centre Post Office.
"The branch, previously called Centre Post Office branch close on closed in March 2026 as the proposed new operator for the branch decided not to go ahead with the plan that we had consulted on,” said the spokesperson.
Janese Sung, Post Office Retail Change Lead said: “We know how important a Post Office to the residents and businesses in Craigavon. We are delighted that this temporary service has re-opened whilst we work towards a permanent solution.
“I want to sincerely thank Rushmere Shopping Centre Manager Martin Walsh and temporary Postmaster Matthew Walker for their massive contributions in getting an interim Post Office services restored at Rushmere Shopping Centre.
“Martin provided all the additional equipment and wrapped everything in Post Office font and colours to make the unit a more substantial retail offering within a day, and he blitzed the local area with social media announcements of the re-opening of the temp services.
“Martin also made his maintenance team during delivery of the equipment and helped us to find solutions to get the service opened yesterday as planned.
“Matthew and I worked closely all weekend to get the branch up and running. Matthew is an experienced postmaster. He borrowed equipment from his branch in Portadown to help get Rushmere Centre Post Office across the line on Monday as planned.”
The current opening hours for Rushmere Centre Post Office are Monday to Friday: 9am –1 & 1.30 – 4pm. These may be extended.
Everyday Post Office products and services will be available, including postal services and banking services. The full range will be reintroduced with a permanent branch.
