Raising 'locks' for charity

The pair - who work at Biesty’s Centra on the Portrush Road - have agreed to succumb to the clippers for the Eye Feel Good charity.

www.eyefeelgood.org was set up last year in order to raise funds to treat eye cancer as well as other types of the disease.

Founder, Richard Fee, set up the charity after his wife Anne Marie received treatment for eye cancer at The Liverpool Ocular Oncology Centre.

James Hetfield look-a-like Richard will be shedding his golden locks at the Bush Tavern in Ballymoney on Friday 26 March.

However, Richard is adamant he will be clinging to some of his furry follicles.

Richard said: "It's time I updated the Hetfield look!

“His hairstyle is circa 'Master of Puppets' - it's time I went for something more modern.

“I quite like the current ‘Death Magnetic' look - but don't worry, I'll still be keeping the beard!”

Kenny will be getting the chop on the same day at Biesty's Centra in Ballymoney.

He said: "I have been growing my hair for the past four years and I don't take decisions like this lightly.

“But, Eye Feel Good is such a good cause and I am chuffed to be able to help in any way I can.”

The lads’ ponytails will be donated to the Little Princess Trust which provides real hair wigs to children suffering hair loss due to cancer treatment.

They supply and fully fund the best wigs available from all over the world, especially designed for children and also provide personal fitting and styling to ensure the wig is as close as possible to the original hair.

A spokesperson for Eye Feel Good, said: “Eye Feel Good is delighted the boys are taking this brave step and we are looking forward to seeing their new looks. Good luck boys.”

A fortnight ago we revealed that Glenn Biesty was taking part in a charity canoe trip from Antrim to Castlerock for the charity next month.

Glenn will be one of 18 volunteers paddling for three days from Antrim to Castlerock via Lough Neagh and the Upper Bann.

Richard Fee said: "This is the type of challenge that Eye Feel Good is all about, we want to raise a lot of money and awareness for the cause and at the same time we want to have a lot of fun doing it."
