Ringland to address group

“A Journey in Understanding” will be the theme of a talk in Larne Town Hall by former Ulster and Ireland rugby player Trevor Ringland.

The event, which is sponsored by the Larne Tuesday Group, will take place in the Wilson Room, on Tuesday March 3, starting at 7.30 pm.

In 2005, Trevor helped to establish “One Small Step,” which explores the small steps that help overcome sectarianism.

Trevor is a partner in the firm of Macaulay & Ritchie, Solicitors, in Belfast.

He is a past pupil of Larne Grammar School and then studied law at Queen’s University Belfast.

He played rugby for Queen’s University, Belfast, Ballymena, Ulster, Ireland and the British Lions.

Trevor’s chosen charity is the Charitable Trust for Irish Rugby Football Union for injured players, formed in 1978, to assist severely injured rugby players and to help to restore their confidence and independence.

This charity is administered by a sub-committee currently chaired by John Callaghan, another Larne Grammarian. Any donations to this charity will be welcomed at this event.

All are welcome to attend, especially those connected with Larne Grammar School, Larne Rugby Club, or friends in Ballygally, where his parents still live.

The March meeting of the Larne Tuesday Group will be on March 17, St Patrick’s Day, at 10.30 am, in Larne Methodist Church Hall, where Sister Margaret Rose, from Drumalis, will give a short talk about our patron saint. This will be followed by some entertainment and a lunch of Irish stew. at a cost of £5 per person.
