Dancers as young as five years of age travelled to compete and every single dancer came home with medals.

It was a fantastic day for Sollus Highland Dance School, as 10 of the dancers also came home with trophies because they had also won their competition sections.

“The dancers won trophies from a range of different grades from beginners right up to the top standard, with Sophie Killen picking up a premier trophy, the top grade at the competition. She did this by winning six out of seven first places,” said a delighted Georgina Kee-McCarter, dance school director.

The list of dancers who brought home silverware are: Lewis Murphy, Anna Campbell, Alex Campbell, Becky Taggart, Jessica Taggart, Caitlin Cooke, Gemma Wade, Kelsey Wade and Sophie Killen, who won two trophies, in the categories for Highland dance and National.

Commending the dancers for their effort and success, Ms Kee-McCarter said: “Once again I came home a super proud dance teacher. I see my pupils work so hard week in and week out. I see the parents spend money on costumes and travelling around so many different places and it is wonderful for them all to gain some success.

“At the end of the day, however, it is not just the trophy winners I am proud of, every single dancer came home with medals. Their hard work really is paying off.

“Sollus is growing all the time, we have introduced new competitors and are coming out on top at the top level as well. It is wonderful to see the dance school progressing all the time and being recognised as the dance school to watch out for.”
