First Dromore Scout Group recently hosted a Superhero-themed barbecue where they said a fond farewell to recently retired Group Scout Leader, Harry Maguire and immediate past Scout Leader John Finn.

Harry had been associated with the Scout group since 1988, clocking a total of 27 years service. “There are many young men from the Dromore area who had reason to be grateful to him for his leadership and contribution to scouting,” a spokesperson said.

The group’s longest-serving leader, Glenda Galloway, presented Harry and John with gifts to mark their retirement.

The group also took the opportunity to thank all the parents and boys involved in its many successful fundraising efforts over the last year.

As a result, work to replace the scout hall roof is due to start soon, while almost £300 was raised for ‘Cash for Kids’, the Scouts’ official chosen charity for this year.
