Ballymena League round-up

Junior Division One: It was a day to forget for Woodlands on Saturday as they lost comprehensively to Antrim Rovers. After a scoreless first-half, the visitors netted five goals without reply with strikes from Alan Jones, Anton Watson, Matthew Montgomery, Jim Bownes and Jamie Jackson.

Junior Division Two: Goals from James Brown and Jason Bannon gave Remo a 2-0 lead over visitors FC Larne, before Ricky Girvan pulled one back for the visitors. However, Neil McMahon had the final say with his 70th-minute goal securing all three points.

Division Three: Carrick Swifts lost 4-1 to Wakehurst Strollers. Carrick’s only goal came courtesy of John Gilmore 10 minutes from time.

Rathcoole FC Reserves won 12-2 against 1st Carrickfergus OB. John Logan’s men were 6-0 up at the break and they mirrored their goalscoring exploits in the second session. The Old Boys’ response came through Ryan Spiers and Steve Lewis.

Division Four: Krag Albion hit double figures as they eased to a 10-1 win over Carnlough Swifts. Dean Haggan (thre), Paul Crothers (three), Jonny Robb (two), Darren Moran and an own goal saw the Carrick men collect a comfortable three points.

Elsewhere, Glengormley United eased to a 7-0 win away at AFC Carrick Reserves.

Crawford Cup R2: Red Star exited the Crawford Cup after they lost 4-2 away at Cookstown Olympic. John O’Neill put Olympic in front, before Stuart Mulligan scored the equaliser in the 40th minute. Conor O’Reilly put Olympic ahead again before adding a third in the 75th minute. Chris Eastwood netted a fourth three minutes later before Mulligan converted an 83rd-minute penalty for Star.

Goals from Ryan Davey (two), Jason Leitch and Aaron Gilmore gave Ballyclare North End a 4-2 win over AFC Carrick in the Crawford Cup. Kenny Grealey and Ryan Clawson found the net for AFC.
