Blues boss David Healy is delighted to have secured the services of the Limavady man until 2018.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be able to announce that Stephen Lowry has agreed and signed a two-year contract extension that will see him extend his stay at the club until May 31, 2018,” Healy said.

“Before being appointed manager I was a Linfield supporter and had seen Stephen play many times so I’m well aware of his considerable ability.

“He’s an experienced player who has a mature and positive attitude in the changing room and it’s great that we’ve been able to reach agreement on a contract extension at this stage.”

Lowry is currently sidelined with a knee injury sustained in a 1-0 defeat to Crusaders last month.

“He’s presently recovering from a recent injury and we’re looking forward to getting him back to full fitness soon as he will undoubtedly make a positive and major contribution to the remainder of our season and indeed the seasons to come,” Healy added to the club’s official website.
