The Sky Bet Championship title contenders, who sit four points adrift of leaders Leicester City, will be jetting out to Alicante after this weekend’s game against Sheffield Wednesday and they are hoping to go to Barcelona’s match at Levante, on Sunday.

Lafferty admitted he and the squad are hoping that former Real Madrid and Blackburn Rovers full-back Míchel Salgado can organise tickets for them.

Mark Howard who is part of Sean Dyche’s back-room team is the man trying to organise the tickets with the ex-Spanish international.

The Clarets next game against the Owls at Turf Moor, on Saturday will be their last for ten days and because of that the club are flying the squad out to Spain on Sunday for a few days.

“We know like any game in the Championship we have a tough one against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday,” stated Lafferty.

“Then because we have no game the following Saturday as it’s the FA Cup, the club told us on Monday that they have booked a trip for the squad to Alicante for a few days.

“We head after the game and I think we are trying to get tickets sorted for the Levante versus Barcelona game on the Sunday.

“I think our Head of Sports Science is trying to organise tickets with Míchel Salgado as he worked with him at Blackburn Rovers.

“Either way it will be nice as we’ll have a few days of relaxing, some training sessions and then back for the final push of the second half of the season.”

Lafferty, who’s contract at Burnley expires at the end of the season admits he isn’t concerned about that and is hopeful if he continues to do well then a new deal will be on offer.

“To be honest I’m not even thinking about that, I’m only concentrating on my football and trying to do my best to ensure that I stay in the team, I also feel that if I do well and continue to play matches regularly then I would like to think I’ll merit some sort of offer.”
