His tally of 41 points - off the 16 handicap - featured two birdies towards the September regional final.

Philip Aiken was next in line on 41 points over David Ross (40), Stanley Templeton (40), Jason Gordon (39) and Andrew Poole (39). Keith Walker won the gross.

In the Thursday Stableford, Colin Porter finished first on 41 points - with Gareth Robinson and Zach McClelland on 40 points apiece and Keith Walker the gross winner.

David Malone posted his hole-in-one joy at the sixth.

John Cassidy won the LA Drinks-sponsored Wednesday Sweep with 32 points.

The section winners were: 0-10 - Stevie Fox 27; 11-14 - Paul Hanna 29; 15-18 - David Gordon 32; 19-plus - Derek Lewis 30.

Derek McCoy was first in the Monday Seniors’ 14-hole stableford on 32 points. Don Black collected the low section and Liam Tennyson was first in the high section, with Ronnie Hynds the top veteran.

Players are reminded to sign up for the Matchplay competitions before May 31.

The Mid-Ulster Senior Alliance meeting at Carrickblacker featured Portadown first under the leadership of Will Barker with 148 points - with Stanley Jelly, Eamon Monaghan, Ronnie Weir and Tony Benson on 37 points apiece.

Ulster Cup players reached the third round on a 7.5 to 6.5 victory over Roe Valley.

Gareth Robinson won 4&2, Michael Connolly was in front by 3&2 and the final hole featured Ken McKeen on top.

The Jimmy Bruen Team play today (Friday) against Tandragee.

The Sam Rutherford players will meet Nuremore across the inter-club Cowdy, with Portadown’s Rossmore squad up against the same squad.

Club professional Paul Stevenson and captain Stanley Jelly won the TGI Golf Day at Delgany alongside Stuart Paul and Alastair Eagle.

The Fullerton Cup - sponsored by Tyremaster Gilford Road - will run this weekend.

Karen Shaw won the ladies’ Open Challenge Cup to finish in front of Dorothy McCaughey and June Garvin.

In the Greensomes, Pat Jelly and Betty Williamson posted 36 points and Ann Madill won the nine-hole title.

The Lyn Wallace Trophy featured Ganga Singh top on 37 points over Valerie Stewart and Denise Mowbray.

The Claret Jug was presented by Harry Wallace in memory of his late wife.

Ann Madill lifted the nine-hole competition - with the memorial competition attracting a field of 36 players.
