Coleraine's Hannah Scott helps Great Britain to world silver success
Coleraine’s Olympic champion Hannah Scott has secured a second career World Rowing Championships silver following runner-up to hosts Netherlands on Saturday morning.
Scott was alongside gold-winning Great Britain colleague Lola Anderson from Paris 2024 in the women’s quadruple sculls A final along the Amsterdam water, with USA home third as Netherlands enjoyed a successful defence of the world prize won last year in Shanghai.
It marked another podium achievement for Scott – with Imogen Grant in the crew plus England-born Finnola Stratton, appearing in her first World Championships but a champion across the under 23s, with connections to Northern Ireland via her Cullybackey-born mother Cathy.
Netherlands highlighted the advantage from the home support: “I think we really had to find something we didn't know was in there...but the crowd really cheered us on and that gave us that final push to make it happen”.

Across the semi-finals, Great Britain finished second behind the Netherlands on Thursday – with the USA, Romania and Germany crews all clocking faster qualifying times towards final qualification.
Scott previously won world gold at the 2023 championships in Belgrade.
Speaking ahead of this year’s World Championships, Scott told BBC Sport NI: "The event itself is starting to stack up, and that's where I'm excited to see where we land on it, because, with everyone else that's improving, I think we've seen a massive breakthrough, is how I would describe it, in the past five weeks and what we've done in our crew.
"I want to see where that lands and how that lands and hopefully we can display that in what's going to be an amazing event at this World Championships."
The World Championships women’s quadruple sculls competition also included Ireland’s crew featuring 19-year-old Sophia Young from Belfast.
