The double British champion will carry the iconic Subaru badge for the next Dunlop MSA-backed championship campaign following the arrival of the manufacturer to the series.

Subaru and Team BMR have announced a partnership set to run for a minimum of three years - with Turkington joined in the line-up by Jason Plato and Warren Scott.

“Continuing with Team BMR for the 2016 season was an easy decision for me and represents a great opportunity to build on our strong maiden campaign,” said Turkington. “I can’t wait to get started with the development of the new Subaru Levorg BTCC race car and I’m more motivated than ever to win.

“This announcement is huge news for the Championship and equally for me.”

Team BMR will be running the Subaru Levorg Sports Tourer for next season and developing both car and engine with support from the manufacturer’s global resources.

“We’re very excited to have teamed up with BMR for the 2016 championship,” said Paul Tunnicliffe, managing director for Subaru UK & Ireland. “This will be the first time a Subaru has competed in BTCC after its hugely successful heritage in rallying with the Impreza.

“The team were keen to enter our new Levorg Sport Tourer as it offers superior aerodynamics and handling prowess in standard form.

“It can be easily developed into rear-wheel drive to comply with the Championship so we can’t wait to see how it goes against very established competition.”

The 2016 season will start at Brands Hatch across the weekend of April 2 and 3.
