PLANS to demolish a semi-detached house in Portstewart and replace it have been approved despite 11 letters of objection.

The application by Mr and Mrs Fletcher for 17 Heathmount was to demolish the building and replace it with a house with a double garage and private amenity space.

At Tuesday’s meeting of Coleraine Borough Council’s Planning Committee, members heard that the original plans had been recommended for refusal.

Objections included the bulk, mass and design of the building and concerns over a new footpath.

However, a Planning official told members that amended plans had been received and, as neither Roads Service nor Planners had any objection to the new plans, the application was being approved.

Garvagh Sports Club plans approved

AN application for a new entrance doorway for Garvagh Sports and Social Club has been approved by Planners.

The application by the Club on Main Street in the town was originally refused however, after receiving amended plans, Planners approved the scheme.

Approval granted for Lodge Road plans

PLANS for a new house and garage on land at the rear of the Lodge Road have been approved, despite 12 letters of objection.

The application by Mr and Mrs Raj Kher was for land to the rear of 86 Lodge Road.

A Planning representative told Tuesday’s meeting of Coleraine Council that the plans had been revised from a three storey to a two storey dwelling.

Council members agreed to the approval with Cllr David McClarty asking if the trees in the area would be protected.

The Planning official said that protection of the surrounding trees and shrubs was a condition of the planning approval.

Plans for Castlerock dwelling turned down

PLANNERS have turned down an application to build a house to the rear of School Lane in Castlerock.

The application from Mr McKay was refused because Planners said it failed to provide a quality residential environment and had not provided adequate access arrangements.

There were also five letters of objection to the scheme.

At Tuesday’s meeting of Coleraine Borough Council’s Planning Committee, it was agreed to hold an office meeting to discuss the matter further.

Broomhill Park plans approved

PLANS to extend a Coleraine house have been approved despite two letters of objection.

The application from Mr and Mrs D Pritchard for 78 Broomhill Park were for an extension to the side and rear of the building.

Coleraine Council’s Planning Committee approved the decision.

Portstewart Prom apartments refused

A scheme to convert a derelict building on Portstewart Prom into apartments has been turned down.

The application by Mr A McLaughlin was to turn 3b the Prom into two one-bedroom apartments.

Planners refused the application as they said it failed to provide a quality residential environment.

At Tuesday’s meeting of Coleraine Borough Council’s Planning Committee, it was agreed to hold an office meeting to discuss the matter further.

Leeke Road plans approved

PLANS for a site at Leeke Road in Portrush have been approved by Planners despite two letters of objections.

The application by Mr Robert Smith for a gap site between 38 and 42 Leeke Road was for two dwellings.
