MBE for former Portrush GP

Portrush GP Dr Pamela Logue was presented with the MBE in February. She was accompanied by her brothers Prof David Logue, Mr Alan Logue and her aunt Mrs Polly Logue.

A former Portrush GP has been awarded the MBE.

Dr Pamela Logue received an MBE for services to medicine in February after being named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List back in June.

Dr Logue was a specialist in genito-urinary medicine and was a GP at Portrush Medical Centre until her retirement in September 2014.

Originally working in hospital medicine, Dr Logue’s career spanned 41 years with 34 spent at Portrush. Originally from Armagh, Dr Logue studied medicine at Edinburgh University and has been closely connected with the north coast since she was a child.

After graduating she worked in Ballymoney as a trainee and then worked as single-handed doctor at Murvue Terrace in Portrush.

Dr Logue moved to the Medical Centre in 1987 and the practice went through a merger two years later.

Speaking to the Times at her retirement, she praised her “absolutely wonderful” colleagues and patients: “I’ve seen a lot of changes in my time in the profession. The people here have been very good and kind and I feel very privileged to be part of people’s lives over the years.

“You are with them through good and bad times and some of the bad times and some of the babies that I met when i first became a docgtor now have families of their own.”
