Mindfulness in Ballymoney

Local mental health charity, AWARE, have announced the delivery of further Mindfulness programmes in Ballymoney.

Following the success of a Mindfulness workshop delivered in the summer, AWARE wish to thank the people of Ballymoney for their attendance and support.

The latest Mindfulness programmes will be delivered at the Ballymoney Town Hall starting on Friday 2nd October from 2pm – 4pm.

Mindfulness is a world recognised technique that can help participants decrease anxiety, worry and stress and help them focus their energy and enthusiasm on improving their personal and professional life. It is a skill anyone can develop and AWARE’s 6 week programme could be the start of an amazing journey for people participating. We all lead busy lives and there is nothing wrong with focussing on our mental health and wellbeing as we do our physical health.

AWARE’s Mindfulness Practitioner, Frank Liddy, who will deliver the programme, has more than 25 years’ experience in the mental health sector and has been at the forefront of developing creative mindfulness based initiatives to communities across Northern Ireland.

Frank said: “AWARE’s Mindfulness Programme is tailored to explore the direct experiences of the participants and the obstacles that may arise in everyday life. Our experience to date has shown that people coming to our courses have reported that they have discovered a new way of being, gained confidence and awareness, as well as developing the tools and skills necessary to deal with life’s challenges.”

Fergal Kearney, a businessman, attended the Mindfulness Workshop and is looking forward to the six week programme. Fergal said: “Mindfulness can be quite difficult to understand as a concept so I decided to go along to the event AWARE organised to find out more – and I was so impressed with the impact this two hour programme had on me and others in the room.

“Mindfulness is the skill to focus on the here and now – not to live in the past, not to guess what might happen in the future – but be still in the present and to find peace of mind – and isn’t that what we are all looking for.”
