Work on Portstewart £20m luxury 119-bed hotel and spa resort progresses
Work on a £20million luxury 119-bed hotel and spa resort in Portstewart is progressing.
Initial road and access infrastructure works began at the future Merrow Hotel & Spa site back in May.
That work represented the first on-site activity for the wider Portstewart development, which is planned for the Causeway Coastal Route beside Portstewart Golf Club and the North West 200’s pits area.
The proposed development includes a 119‑bed hotel with spa and leisure facilities, restaurant and bar, wedding and conference facilities, nine hotel cottages, and a destination dining experience overlooking the Causeway Coast.

The current phase of works is focusing on improving site access and associated infrastructure in preparation for the longer‑term development of the site.
A planning application has been lodged with Causeway Coast and Glens Council seeking permission now to erect “temporary hoarding with vinyl advertising graphics promoting branding and amenities of hotel development”.
The proposed graphics feature images of the hotel and its dining and spa amenities and, if approved, will be on site for the full duration of construction. Permission is also sought for a CCTV mast.
A Planning Statement said: “The proposal is for the erection of temporary hoarding, CCTV mast and associated advertising located adjacent to and surrounding the site entrance of the approved hotel and spa complex. The proposed hoarding will provide screening and security during construction whilst informing passers-by with details of the hotel development.”
"Additionally, a 12m galvanised steel CCTV pole is to be installed and sited for the same durationBas the proposed hoarding.”
