And Banbridge Town’s newest signing Kevin Anderson will add plenty of that to the side next season.

Ryan Watson has tied down his second addition of the summer after convincing the former Warrenpoint Town and Loughgall man to join up at Crystal Park.

A centre-half or central midfielder, Anderson comes with championship winning pedigree, having helped Warrenpoint bull their way through the leagues and into the Premiership.

Town boss Watson is optimistic he can also help Town to begin to rise up the table.

“He’s a big, strong lad,” the manager said.

“He has a strong physical presence in the middle of the park and has just what we need to give us another dimension in this league.

“Kevin has been at the club when he was younger. I worked with him then and it’s a big boost to have him back. He knows the club, he knows the players and the signing represents another stride forward for the club.

“He is another winner coming into the changing room as well. He has been part of teams that have achieved. He has a great pedigree and should do very well for us in Championship Two.”

After helping to fire Warrenpoint into the top division, Anderson joined Loughgall, where he played up until last season.

However, he comes with other commitments. In fact, Town supporters won’t see Kevin take to the field at the very start of the season as he will be playing for local GAA side Annaclone.

“Kevin is an excellent gaelic player and was on the Down panel,” said Watson. “He won’t be available for us until the season is over in mid-September. He has been honest about that and hopefully by the time he is available, we will be in a good position.”

The 27 year-old powerhouse also boosts the numbers of locals in the Town squad, a fact which brings much significance for Watson.

“Ideally, I want as many local players as possible at the club,” he said. “Kevin is another one of those and he wants to come and do well here. He wants to help pushg the club forward and achieve things at Crystal Park.

“We know we won’t always be able to sign Banbridge based players though. Most importantly, we want players at the club who want to play for Banbridge Town.”
