Fortwilliam Cup at Royal Portrush

AT Royal Portrush Golf Club, Jane Miller, playing off 24, took the Fortwilliam Cup on Saturday, winning by one point from Wilma Simpson (17) who scored 37 points.

This claimed the Section B prize (17-25) for Wilma. Section A (0-16) went to Liz McCartney for her return of 35 points from her handicap of fourteen. 35 points was also the score needed to take the prize in Section C (26-36) and was scored by Marlene Duncan in a countback from Elizabeth Hassan. Elizabeth had the consolation of winning the front nine with 20 points. Back nine winner Fiona Nicol also scored 20 points.

October Medal

On the following Saturday June Hanna won the day with a net 68 off her handicap of fifteen. The best gross prize was claimed by seven handicap Melanie Mitchell for her 78.

Section A topper was Kath Stewart-Moore (11) for 71 net. Section B leader Carrie Turner recorded a net 69 from her handicap of 21 and Section C went to Angela Colhoun, off 28, who scored a net 70.

Heather Sinclair’s 33.5 for the front nine took that prize and Amanda Carson scored 32.5 to win the back nine prize.
