The nine hole par 3 course at Ballyearl is perfectly suited for the younger golfers, challenging all aspects of their game from tee to green.

Speaking at the event, the Mayor commented: “It’s fantastic to see such large numbers of junior golfers participating in this competition at Ballyearl and well done to all the winners.

“I hope this early experience of the great game of golf starts a life-long interest in sports which we know is a great way for children to be active and healthier.

“You never know, Newtownabbey might also have a star of the future, joining Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroy on tour!”
