Ulster Fourball first round

MONDAY saw the close of the first round of the Ulster Fourball Trophy and all of our local clubs were participating, with mixed results.

As reported last week, Rathmore Golf Club relied on ‘holes up’ to progress at the expense of Mayobridge and will now face Bushfoot Golf Club, who were awarded a walkover in their tie with Redcastle, in a County Antrim derby.

Gracehill Golf Club also benefits from a walkover by Larne Golf Club for the privilege of playing Kilrea or Fortwilliam in the next round.

Castlerock, winners in 2003, lost out to Co Cavan. Royal Portrush Golf Club slipped out of the tournament against Ashfield GC as did Portstewart to Belvoir Park GC. Ballycastle met their end against Greencastle GC who will now face Roe Park GC or Scrabo, winners in 2000.
