Ballymoney couple
raise £5,000 for FCC

Quite a feat for most of us but when you consider that in 2013, Chris McIlmoyle was diagnosed with GIST - a rare form of cancer - and as part of his treatment had to have his stomach removed, losing four stone in weight in the process, then this is quite a remarkable achievement.

Chris completed an abseil down the 85 metres-high City Hospital Tower block, the third highest building in Northern Ireland.

“On the same day my wife Frances did a bungee jump at the Titanic building. And, we are both petrified of heights too! When it came to the abseil, I just never looked down. Frances said she was terrified before the bungee jump....and still terrified after it.”

Chris said both he and Frances were “overwhelmed” by the support they received in their fundraising.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for supporting us.

“I was totally overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone.

“I had originally hoped to raise £2000 but £5000 was the end amount.”
