Stars shine at St Patricks

SINGERS at the St Patrick’s Academy ‘Stars In Your Eyes’ belted out songs from Rihanna, Oasis and James Brown.

The school recently held its seventh annual Stars In Your Eyes competition and enjoyed one of the best shows yet.

The standard was higher than ever, and the judges had a very difficult task deciding on the winners.

A diverse range of performances were on offer, which included dance, singing and playing instruments, and pupils from every year group took part. The packed hall and guest judges enjoyed songs from many artists such as Rihanna, Oasis and James Brown.

Many local businesses (including McCalls of Lisburn, The Holiday Inn, Kelly’s, Salon Nix Hairdressers and Kearney’s) had generously donated prizes for the half-time raffle, the proceeds of which will be taken on the forthcoming Romanian charity trip in February.

The deserving winners were a dance group ranging from Year 8 to 13 who had choreographed their own routine to a medley of songs.

The highlight of the evening, however, was a dance ‘mash-up’ performed by Year 13 boys to a variety of songs including the popular ‘Gangnam Style’.

St Patrick’s welcomes opportunities to showcase the wide range of talent in the school whether academic, sporting or creative pursuits and encourages all pupils to take an active role in school life.
