Ballymena League Junior Divisions round-up

Crawford Cup R1: A goal in either half from Ross Oliver was enough for Woodlands to claim a shock 2-1 win at Intermediate side Killymoon. The hosts saw a penalty saved by Roger McCoy before Jame O’Neill landed a late consolation.

Ballyclare Comrades Reserves produced another upset when they sent Dunloy packing with a 3-2 win after extra-time. The hero at Dixon Park was teenager Kyle Woods who weighed in with a brace on his debut. Scott Cummings netted the other goal for the ‘Wee Reds’.

Junior Division 1: Carnmoney FC had a day to forget as they lost 4-0 at home to Newington YC II.

Junior Division Two: Ballynure OB ‘B’ got the edge over Larne Olympic with a 2-1 success at Parkview. The visitors took the lead courtesy of an own goal but a Robert Watson brace ensured the three points for Ballynure. Elsewhere, Remo 1-0 at Wakehurst Strollers.

Junior Division Three: 1st Carrickfergus OB fought back from two down to claim a 2-2 draw against Hillhead Eagles. Chris Sands (penalty) and Ryan Clawson found the net for Carrick.

Carnlough Swifts also battled from two down against Whitehead Rangers, securing their first win of the season thanks to a Declan McDermott hat-trick.

Sammy McCreight (two), Marc Campbell (two) and Sammy Duff were all on target in 3rd Ballyclare OB’s 5-0 win over Antrim Rovers Swifts.

Canada Trophy R1: Ballyclare North End fell at the first hurdle losing 4-3 to Sport and Leisure Reserves.

Andy Hall (two), Tony Matthews (two), Matthew McFaul hit the net for Castle Star as they emerged as 5-4 winners at Clough Rangers Athletic.

Red Star lost 1-0 to Cookstown Youth and Carrick Thistle were defeated 4-1 by Brantwood Reserves.

An own goal and strikes from Ross Middleton, Gerard O’Neil, Phil Brown and Dave Hutchinson secured a 5-1 win for Mallusk Athletic over KCC Athletic.
