Greene wants rematch against O’Kane

Greene and his team felt hard done by regarding the way the fight was stopped.

Ryan said: “I am not going to say I would of won the fight, especially up at middleweight, but I don’t think Eamon would be as effective at light middle and over a longer stretch.

“That fight would sell loads of tickets again, myself and Eamon are two excellent ticket sellers. So why not put us on the September show? He has nothing to lose, and Eddie Hearn says he wants him (Eamon) in an eight rounder next time.”

Greene’s trainer, Damien Denny, was furious the way the scrap unfolded.

“First O’Kane went in very reckless with the head (O’Kane had already caused a bad cut on the head of Anthony Fitzgerald in their first round battle which Eamon won on points), which although may have been accidental was still reckless in my view,” said Denny.

“What angered me most though was after the clash, and while Ryan was still stunned from the butt O’Kane came in and wrestled Ryan to the floor, in something more akin to WWF than Prizefighter.

“He didn’t even receive a warning, or points deduction from the referee Ian John Lewis, the whole experience left a bad taste the way it was finished.

“Had Ryan been outboxed or worked for three rounds we would have had no complaints, but I don’t think even Eamon would be proud of his work or the way it finished.”

Greene’s manager Alan Wilton confirmed he is going to put the fight to matchroom boss Eddie Hearn.
